So with joel not in Jo and I are cracking on with directors cut front cover :)
We took a picture of me and joel yesterday with me as gabriel and it looked
creepy as so we are going to take te photo and move it onto the photo of
chase to make it look like Gab is screaming into his ear.
I'm sure joel will get the photos up asap :)
Jo is just cutting chase out now to put him onto the background

The Beautiful people
Once again I've been called up to do something crazy with my face unfortuitly it wasn't animated so we had us a photo shot of Joel (Dr) Turner and myself for the cover of the mag.
We had a follow student do my eye make up for Gabriel and tomorrow we shall get the chace shots :p
I complain about the make up but I must say it looked good on the photos and was a bit of a laugh
"Matt whats up with your face?!"
"If you think I'm bad you should see the other guy"

DVD cover no more!
So today we get in to lesson to find that we no longer are supposed to be doing a dvd cover. Instead we are now making the front cover of a film magazine which we are now taking the time to look at other film magazine front covers finding an inspiration for our front cover.
We have already been told that Miss Gregory And Mr Turner are willing to star on the front cover which is awesome so we are going to edit them in to be behind Matt (Indiana Jones and Star Trek being inspiration).
We are also considering featuring free posters when the magazine is bought, other film suggestions to watch and maybe some famous actor/actress names.

Slight Poster change.
And its gud.
Ms Rappel commented on our poster yesterday, regarding the text (credits) at the bottom of the page.
The text was turned into 'Tall Film' this would mean that the text would be more compact and taller, this would replicate the text used on modern posters which will give our poster a more professional outlook.

Fonts for the poster
So for our poster we chose to have 3 different fonts to break up the different sections, the chosen three were:
American Life - For the title of our film 'Pendulum'
3rd Man - For our names and the tag line
Tall Film - For the credits
We chose to use American Life as we found it quite a creepy, eerie and blood splattered font and thought it would back-up the story line and name of our film.
3rd Man was used cause we thought it looked really cool and fitted well with our genre of film.
Tall Film was inspired from the 'Sleuth' film poster as it is elongated.

Final Poster.
So we have added some titles, names and credits to our poster.
We picked a colour scheme from the picture, Red, white and grey. this colour scheme was taken from the jumper which Matt was wearing in the picture. These colours where then moved to the titles and credits.
We then found a poster form out media room, star trek i believe and copied the credits at the bottom of the page. This would give us a generaic looking poster.
Since there was only 3 of use doing the actually filming and editing, we had to add some of the actors in. Which filled ou the information alittle bit. We tried to make the tect as squashed together as possible, this would make it seem as real life poster as we could.
And this is the finished product.

Since the creation of the face melt.
I thought so post this as i wish to say that we will not be using a Silhouette image of Matt's character.
Although it was not final for the final poster or DVD cover, because it was mentioned earlier I thought i should explain that we will not using it.
The silhouette picture was not viable in showing the characters fully to an audience which would make it harder to know what the film would be about, what charatcers are used etc.
Although the image may still be used it will not be a predominate pictutre, maybe as a background image but.
So yeah, thought i should just say.

Creation of the Poster.
Ok so we started the creation of the poster yesterday!
This was a good laugh as we were able to manipulate the images which we thought would give the most effect and 'scareyness factor'
We started in creating a sketched design which we would stick too to make the best poster that we could.
We thought of having the main character 'Chace' being the main character, this would allow the viewer to know who the film would be about. Since we have deicided to have the character have a split personality we thought to have half his face be cut away to show 'Gabriel' on the other side of him. This would display both the charatcers and have the viewer know what the story may be about, and creepy them out alittle.
We started by takeing 2 facial shotsof Matt, one would be himstanding still, how we wanted 'Chace' to look, the next would be 'Chace's face being peeling(or melted) away.

We needed to cut half the face away to make way for the other shot of 'Gabriel', this was done using the 'Magnetic lasso' tool, which allowed us to get a clean cut through his face. This was then copied and put onto 2 different layers, 1 layer was darkened then the eye was liquefied. The second layer was distorted and pulled down to replicate the skin being pulled.

The secondpicture was then cut out, Matt's arm, and placed onto the top of the first picture, to make the mainpicture which we will be working with.
The image was then nearly ready to be a final draft.
We used a smudge tool set to '20' to blend the layers of the face together, this would add depth to the image and make it look somewhat realistic.
The background then needed to be changed which was meant we added a new layer then placed it at the back of the other layers.
We then thought of adding a 'faded' part of the image, this was through using the 'Magic eraser' tool to blend the image. this was combind with the dodge and burn tool which, the dodge tool was used to lighten the image then the burn tool was used to darken the image.
The image was looking alot better so we flattened all of the layer together, then toned the image alittle bit more, now that the layers were put together.
Then the image draft was ready for show.
Although after some critism from Ms Gregory, we thought to change the size of the melted chin........

Although we tried to replicate the skin melting it did not look the best.
This lead us to make a sharper looking face melt which would not look so silly.
This lead us to this image.

Which we thought is quite cool.
Just to show the photoshop steps that we took, we took a print screen of the layers. So it culd be somewhat clearer to you.

X gonna give to you...
.....A poster that is :D
Here our ideas:
-Mirror: Back of Chace showing white hood, reflecting back would be Gabriel (reaching out)
-Face peeling: Close up image of Chace peeling back, face + Showing Gabriel underneath (Layered-using cling film or paper)
-Opposite sides: Chace on one side, Gabriel on the other. With text down the middle
-Mirror: Medium size mirror with Chace's reflection and Gabriel lurking behind him in shadow.
-Half Face: Half face Chace, other half Gabriel.
Me and Joel are drawing up the face peeling poster :) :P

Online Songs
I was looking at the names for our main protagonist/Antagonist. Gabriel already has the dark irony that he is evil but named after an angel :p Chace though has got depth to his name as he is being chased by his other half, till it is too late and he will cease to existence.....

VIDEO?!
"
this is the first final cut to the video.
We have tested the audience, and will be making some changes to the video in due time."
Is what i would be saying if the video actually posted....
Seems the .DV file has faulted me again.
Video up in due course.
Sorry for the inconvenience :)

Audience feedback
Today we had some feed back from an audience which we gathered from the sixth form.
We made a table of questions "Positive" "Negative" "Improvements and "Other Comments"
This was so they can give us direct information about specific parts of the trailer.
Over all the feed back was good, with lots of positive points, however there are still points which we need to cover.
Understanding the plot was a high feedback point.
Voice over volume was the second.
We have thought to correct these feed back points by adding more shots which will add more depth to both the characters.
Making the voice over louder will also allow us to make the story clearer as well

So today is the deadline.
And all is going well, touch wood.
Jo and Matt have liked what i have done with the film, 'LOVE IT' was repeated a few times..... (not to blow ones own trumpet.)
As for myself, i think its good!
I have added another track on top of "The Platform". This is called "Drones" taken from the same URL as "The Platform".
I have added this music because it added a few more 'bumps' and 'bashes' which would make the music have a little bit more depth, through the use of the multi layering of the music.
The new music has simply been placed over the top of the original music and then moved into place, making the two songs work well together.
The shots have been done and placed together, the music has been set in place.
The only thing now is to finalize the voice over. I am still not happy with the current voice over. Well not the quantity, there needs to be more speech within our trailer which would give the audience more depth to the story and characters.
This should be done next lesson, which is in 14 minutes...

The deadline draws near
So the last few touches of editing are being done to our film right this minute!
(well after its saved, which takes a very long time)
Once this is done i hope to add some different music, more eerie than the first music we put on, although we will keep some sections of the original song.
We have gotten these songs from www.freeplaymusic.com which is very good and resourceful website.
We chose to get the music from this website as we only other choice would have been to take music from 50 years ago. If we had chosen that route then we would have been narrowed down to use one song, and it may not have worked well. With we have a variety of musical influences to do which would help us in make the trailer the best we could.
The 'flash' edits still need to be done which i hope to be adding within the next double free (which is now) Jo and Matt are both busy so i have to do it alone! Which wont be the best, but i will run through what i have done tomorrow!
The original music which I will be adding is from (http://freeplaymusic.com/search/category_search.php?t=v&i=1863) called "Challenger" This is a rock based instrumental which should liven up the trailer.
The music which i i have added is from (http://freeplaymusic.com/search/category_search.php?t=v&i=1235) This is called "The Platform" This is an orchestral based instrumental which should give a more eerie theme to the trailer.

So Matt was alittle too hopefully...
The final editing will SHOULD be done soon, but having some slight trouble saving... i have been waiting 20 mins just for it to save. Painful.
The editing should be done tomorrow which is good. Very good.
We have added some flash out and flash in parts to the clips to get a more generic feel to the trailer. This will also add to the ghostly beings that be........
Final shots?
Perhaps..... :D
Perhaps Yes!
